The Yavapai College women’s soccer team will look to stay perfect in conference play this week with matchups against Mesa and South Mountain on the schedule.
The Roughriders start on the road in Mesa, Arizona, where they will play the Mesa Community College Thunderbirds on Tuesday, September 20, with kickoff scheduled for 7 p.m. After a few off days, YC matches up with the South Mountain Community College Cougars at 6 p.m. on Saturday, September 24, in Prescott, Arizona, at Ken Lindley Field.

Mesa comes into its matchup with YC at 1-6 overall and 1-2 within the conference. Its lone victory came over Glendale while its losses have come to Phoenix twice, Scottsdale twice, Paradise Valley and Chandler-Gilbert.
South Mountain comes into its matchup with YC at 1-5 overall and 0-3 in the conference. Its lone victory came over Glendale while its losses have come to Phoenix, Chandler-Gilbert, Arizona Western, Pima and Cochise.
YC comes into its week of soccer at 3-4 overall and 2-0 in conference play. The Roughriders have defeated Cochise, Chandler-Gilbert and CSN this season with losses against Pima, Western Wyoming, Arizona Western and Scottsdale.
Player To Watch
Sophomore forward Emma Alvarez tallied her second game-winner of the season last weekend and leads the squad in goals scored with five.
One Last Thing
The Roughriders are looking for their first program wins over Mesa and South Mountain as they fell to the Thunderbirds twice last year and did not match up with the Cougars last season.
