Basketball is officially back at Yavapai College and it starts this week with the women’s squad heading to Twin Falls, Idaho, for a couple of games in the Hilex Poly/Physician’s Immediate Care Tourney that is being hosted by the College of Southern Idaho.
After a travel day on Wednesday, the Roughriders will face the No. 10-ranked College of Southern Idaho Golden Eagles on Thursday, November 3, at 4 p.m. On Friday, November 4, YC takes on the Western Nebraska Community College Cougars at noon.
While Thursday’s game serves as the season opener for both the Golden Eagles and Roughriders, Friday’s game against Western Nebraska will also be the season opener for the Cougars.
The streaming links for both games can be found on GoRoughriders.com/Live with a tournament streaming pass being available for $10.
Last time the Roughriders competed in women’s basketball was during the 2010-11 season under Hall of Fame Athletic Director Brad Clifford who was the head coach of the women’s team for 15 years.
Now, the Roughriders are led by Head Coach Gerrard Carmichael and Assistant Coach Ryan Walcott who have built a roster of 15 student-athletes, 11 of which are from Arizona.
