YC Women’s Basketball Adds Four To 2022-23 Roster

Having already announced 10 roster additions for its 2022-23 squad, the Yavapai College women’s basketball team is thrilled to announce the addition of four more student-athletes that will be continuing their athletic and academic careers at Yavapai College.

Saydee Allred

High School: Allred graduated from Pima High School in May of 2022 and enjoyed a very decorated high school basketball career. While Allred was a four-year letterman for basketball, she also helped lead her team to back-to-back region and state championships during her junior and senior seasons in which the team went a combined 49-2. She earned Region Offensive Player of the Year honors as a sophomore and junior, in addition to being a three-time First-Team All-Region honoree. As a senior, she earned Region Player of the Year and Conference Player of the Year honors as well. She scored 1,373 points during her four seasons and led the team in scoring during three of those seasons. As a senior, she averaged 16.7 points, 4.7 rebounds and 3.6 steals per game. 

Personal: Allred was born in Enterprise, Alabama, on February 7, 2004. Her hobbies include playing all sports, camping, fishing, hiking, playing guitar and piano and spending time with her family and friends. She plans to earn her associate’s degree and eventually get into a radiology program. 

Carmichael on Allred: “Saydee is a two-time state champion that knows what it takes to win championships. She will add some offensive energy for us and I am happy to have her on board.”

Abbigail Colquitt

High School: Colquitt graduated from Mayer High School in May of 2022. While at Mayer, Colquitt broke the state record for rebounding in 1A. 

Personal: Colquitt was born in Prescott, Arizona, on August 17, 2004. Her hobbies include hiking, sports and swimming and, in the future, she plans to major in education. 

Carmichael on Colquitt: “Abbigail had a very good season at Mayer High School. She put up some great numbers, averaging a double-double with 13 points a game and 14 rebounds.”

Abigail Polacek

High School: Polacek graduated from Chino Valley High School in May of 2022 where she earned Second-Team All-Region honors as a sophomore and First-Team All-Region honors as a senior. She also earned her team’s MVP award as a senior. As a senior, she averaged 11 points-per-game and scored 25 points six times. 

Personal: Polacek was born in Prescott, Arizona, on May 27, 2004. Her hobbies include the rodeo and traveling and, in the future, she plans to study nursing. 

Carmichael on Polacek: “Abigail Polacek was a team leader at Chino Valley. She led the team in scoring with 11 points a game while pulling down four rebounds a game. She also found time to get about two assists and two steals a game.”

Mackenzie Irving

High School: Irving graduated from Holy Name of Mary College School in May of 2021 where she was a team captain and her team’s MVP during her junior and senior seasons. 

Personal: Irving was born in Mississauga, Ontario, Canada on December 5, 2003. Her hobbies include playing fastpitch softball, dancing, singing karaoke and baking. In the future, she plans to major in elementary education. 

Carmichael on Irving: “Mackenzie Irving is a combo post/wing that will add a lot of versatility to our roster. She comes to us from Canada.”
