YC Softball Lands Six on NJCAA All-America Teams

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – After leading the country in NFCA All-America selections, the 2022 Yavapai College softball team has now landed six of its student-athletes on the NJCAA All-America teams to lead the association in selections as well.

“Of course, our goal was to win a national championship,” Head Coach Doug Eastman said. “But when you bring home an unprecedented six All-American awards, it makes the season so gratifying. Giving our young ladies a platform to succeed at the national level is the reason we coach!”

On the first team are freshman infielders Lovey Kepa’a and Yaya Kaaialii, sophomore outfielder Kayla Rodgers, sophomore pitcher Emily Dix and freshman catcher Jasmine Moreno while sophomore outfielder Mia Weckel earned second team honors. 

All six student-athletes were NFCA All-America, NFCA First-Team All-Region, NJCAA All-Region and All-Conference honorees as well. In addition, Kaaialii was named NFCA Player of the Year, Moreno was named NFCA Catcher of the Year, Kepa’a was named ACCAC Player of the Year and Dix was named ACCAC Pitcher of the Year.
