The Yavapai College men’s soccer season is in full swing now with its conference season starting last weekend. This week, the Roughriders hit the road on Tuesday, before returning home on Saturday.
The Roughriders begin the week on Tuesday, September 20, in Mesa, Arizona, where they will take on the No. 19-ranked Mesa Community College Thunderbirds with kickoff scheduled for 4:30 p.m. After a few off days, YC returns home for a matchup against the South Mountain Community College Cougars at Ken Lindley Field in Prescott, Arizona, with kickoff slated for 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, September 24.

Mesa comes into its matchup with YC at 6-2-1 overall and 1-1-1 within the conference. The Thunderbirds have beaten Scottsdale twice, Glendale, Paradise Valley, Chandler-Gilbert, and Justice while losing to Phoenix twice and tying Glendale.
South Mountain comes into its matchup with YC at 0-5 overall and 0-2 in the conference. Its losses have come to Paradise Valley, Phoenix, Glendale, Arizona Western and Pima. Before heading to Prescott on Saturday, the Cougars will play Paradise Valley on Tuesday.
YC comes into its week of soccer with a 3-1 overall record and 1-0 conference record, after a 7-0 blowout win over Chandler-Gilbert last weekend. It has also defeated Scottsdale and CSN with its lone loss coming to No. 1-ranked Pima.
Player To Watch
Sophomore forward Iann Topete tallied two goals and two assists in YC’s last match and now leads the team in goals (four), assists (three) and points (11).
One Last Thing
Yavapai is 58-7-2 in the all-time series with Mesa and 62-1-0 in the all-time series with South Mountain.
