Men’s Soccer Prepares For Scottsdale

The Yavapai College men’s soccer team is ready for some weekend soccer as it is set to host the Scottsdale Community College Fighting Artichokes on Saturday.

The Roughriders and Fighting Artichokes will kick off at 4:30 p.m. in Prescott Valley, Arizona, at Mountain Valley Park with the game also being live streamed on GoRoughriders.com/Live

The Fighting Artichokes

Scottsdale is 2-1 on the season with a 5-4 win over Ottawa (JV) and 2-0 win over GateWay. Its lone loss came at the hands of Mesa by a score of 4-3. 

The Roughriders

In its exhibition matches, Yavapai has earned wins with scores of 5-1 and 3-1, in addition to a 0-0 tie with Embry Riddle. In their lone regular-season matchup, the Roughriders defeated the College of Southern Nevada Coyotes 4-1. 

In the CSN game, sophomore forward Christopher Cornn netted the first goal of the season, fellow sophomore forward Iann Topete scored a goal (with Cornn assisting on the score) and sophomore forward Jose Vega tallied two goals. 

In addition to Cornn’s assist on Topete’s goal, sophomore forward Mael Lopes, sophomore midfielder Brandon Pulido and freshman goalkeeper Rushon Sandy all tallied assists in the match with Sandy also taking home the win in goal.

One Last Thing

In the all-time series with Scottsdale, Yavapai is 62-3-1 while outscoring the Fighting Artichokes 308-35.
