YC Baseball’s Nate Ward Named ACCAC Pitcher of the Week
After a dominant performance against the No. 1-ranked team in the country, Yavapai baseball’s sophomore righty Nate Ward has been named the ACCAC Pitcher of the Week the conference office announced Monday night.
Over the weekend, Ward took the mound in Yavapai’s first game of a doubleheader against the No. 1-ranked Central Arizona College Vaqueros and helped lead the squad to a dramatic 4-3 win with an ace performance on the bump.

The sophomore, hailing from Mountain Pointe High School in Phoenix, Arizona, tossed all seven innings in the victory, struck out nine vaqueros, allowed just four hits and allowed just three runs (none of which were earned).
On the season, Ward owns a 3-0 record, 2.03 ERA and 31 strikeouts in 31 innings pitched.
Ward and the rest of the Roughriders are back in action on Saturday, March 12, at home where they will take on the No. 12-ranked Phoenix College Bears in an ACCAC doubleheader. First pitch for game one is set for noon and live streaming and live stats will be available on GoRoughriders.com/Live.
