Yavapai College Men’s Basketball Signs Three For 2022-23

 After announcing the return of men’s basketball on September 9, 2021, and the hiring of Head Coach Jay Joyner on November 17, 2021, the Yavapai College men’s basketball team has begun building its roster for the 2022-23 season. Now, three student-athletes have signed their NJCAA Letter of Intent to continue their athletic and academic careers at Yavapai College

High School: Bailey graduated from TLAP Sports Academy in May of 2021. As a senior, he led his team in scoring with an average of 26.7 PPG in addition to 8 RPG en route to a semi-finals appearance at prep school nationals and a prep south conference championship. He also earned Most Improved Player honors during his senior season. 

Personal: Bailey was born in Detroit, Michigan, on September 3, 2003. His hobbies include making designs for his clothing brand and bowling. In the future, he plans to earn his bachelors degree in business and mathematics. 

Josh Favors

High School: Favors graduated from Creekside High School in May of 2019 where he averaged 15 PPG, 5 RPG and 5 APG. He also played one year at Action Sports Academy and averaged 30 PPG, 8 RPG, 3 APG and 3 SPG. 

Before Yavapai: Favors attended Williston State College where he averaged 13 PPG, 5 RPG and 5 APG with a 50% FGP. He also shot 82/100 from the free-throw line. 

Personal: Favors was born in Atlanta, Georgia, on February 16, 2001. He enjoys working out and plans to major in business.

Evan Joyner

High School: Joyner graduated from Piedmont Classical High School in June of 2020. As a senior, he helped lead the Bobcats to a 25-9 record, playing in 34 games while averaging 9.5 points, 5.8 rebounds, 1.8 assists, 1.7 blocks and 1.6 steals per game. As a junior, he averaged 10.7 points on 55 percent shooting and 5.4 rebounds in just 19 minutes of play per game. Joyner scored 1,001 points over the course of his high school career, was a First-Team All-State selection, USA National Prep Champion and 4X State Champion. He graduated with a 3.9 GPA and played AAU for Garner Road and was coached by NBA All Star David West.

Before Yavapai: Joyner attended Tennessee State University where he played in 13 games and started four games. He averaged 2.3 points, 2.3 rebounds and 0.7 steals in 14.2 minutes per game, recorded 20+ minutes in four straight conference games, logged six points in two separate games, grabbed six rebounds against Eastern Illinois, swatted three shots at Eastern Illinois and registered three steals in consecutive games against EIU and Morehead State

Personal: Joyner was born in Nashville, Tennessee, on September 30, 2001. In the future, he plans to major in architectural engineering.
