For the fourth consecutive year, the approved budget does not include an increase in the property tax levy for Yavapai County residents.

“I am so pleased that the College was able to develop a balanced budget without raising taxes for our residents,” said Deb McCasland, Yavapai College District Governing Board Chair. “The academic programs that the College offers are remarkable, and I applaud the College for really thinking about our communities and making them accessible and affordable for everyone.”

YC remains one of the most significant values in the state for higher education.  Starting this Fall, YC’s base tuition rate will be just $98 per credit hour for part-time students. In addition, there are a variety of existing and new discounts that county residents may qualify for, including

  • Full-Time Student Discount (20%+)
    • Any full-time student receives credits 13+ for free
    • YC full-time student tuition is the 2nd lowest in the state and 80% lower than Arizona public universities
  • Senior Citizen Discount (50%)
    • Increased tuition discount for senior citizens (age 65+) who take credit classes from 25% to 50%
  • Yavapai College Promise Program (FREE)
    • High School Promise: Tuition reimbursement for out-of-pocket costs for recent high school graduates who complete their degree on-time
    • Added Workforce Promise: Tuition reimbursement for out-of-pocket costs for any student who completes a designated Career & Technical Education Degree on-time
  • Introduced Concurrent Enrollment Discount (50%)
    • Discounted tuition of 50% for all current high school students who take online concurrent classes
  • Created Early College Academy
    • In Fall 22, Yavapai College will partner with Prescott High School as a pilot to provide students an Early College Academy. Select students from PHS will take their junior and senior years on the YC campus, taking college classes to simultaneously complete a college degree/certificate with their high school diploma.

In addition to these new discounts, the budget features funding for strategic initiatives focusing on training for living-wage jobs and developing and sustaining a strong workforce. Some of the initiatives include:

  • Enhancing Retention and Completion
    • YC will be expanding services and support helping students connect to social services for basic needs, housing, food, support for 1st generation college students, open education resources (low-cost textbooks), and others.
  • Baccalaureate Degrees
    • The College has been approved to launch baccalaureate degrees and plans to do so in the fall of 2023.

Yavapai College offers dozens of degree and certificate programs in Career and Technical Education, Health and Wellness, Arts and Humanities, Business and Computer Systems, Social Sciences, Science and Engineering, and Lifelong Learning opportunities for all ages. YC operates campuses in Prescott and Clarkdale and centers near Prescott Airport, Prescott Valley, Chino Valley, and Sedona.
