Yavapai Baseball Begins Season With Four-Game Set at Glendale
Baseball season is finally here for the Roughriders as Yavapai is set to begin its 2022 season in Glendale, Arizona, with a pair of conference doubleheaders against the Glendale Community College Gauchos.
“We’re excited for the start of the season,” Head Coach Ryan Cougill said. “This is what you prepare all year for and we are ready to compete.”
The Games
Baseball gets started at noon on Friday with game two beginning approximately at 2:30 p.m. Saturday’s schedule is the same as Friday with the games scheduled for noon and 2:30 p.m. All four conference games will have live stats available on GoRoughriders.com/Live.

The Gauchos
Friday’s doubleheader also serves as the home-opener for the Gauchos 2022 season. Last season, Glendale went 25-27 with two of those losses coming to the Roughriders with scores of 4-3 and 16-15.
The Roughriders
Yavapai comes into its 2022 season with a No. 13 ranking in the NJCAA Preseason Poll, after earning a Region Championship in 2021 with a 34-21 record. The 2022 squad is comprised of 17 newcomers (11 freshman and six transfers) and 13 returners from 2021.
One Last Thing
A win in Friday’s game one would make it 10-straight seasons in which the Roughriders have emerged victorious in their first game of the year.
