The Roughriders

After a preseason that featured canceled scrimmages and exhibition matches, the Roughriders were able to get on the field earlier this week for their first regular-season game against the College of Southern Nevada Coyotes in North Las Vegas, Nevada. Yavapai, as it did in their first game in program history, emerged victorious in the match with a score of 3-1 to move to 1-0 on the young season.

Player To Watch

Sophomore forward Emma Alvarez lit the field on fire last season with 11 goals scored and continued the trend in the first game of the regular season with two goals scored including the game winner. It is the fourth time in her career that she has tallied a multi-goal game and the fourth game winner in her career.

One Last Thing

Last season, the Roughriders defeated the Pima Community College Aztecs when they were ranked No. 7 in the country. It was the first time in program history that YC women’s soccer earned a victory over a ranked opponent.
