 Women’s Soccer Adds 12 To 2022 Roster

After earning a trip to the playoffs in its inaugural campaign last season, the Yavapai College women’s soccer team is looking to build upon its immediate success in 2022. This fall, the Roughriders are adding 12 student-athletes to their roster that are continuing their athletic and academic careers at Yavapai College.

Ziyana De Los Reyes Guerrero

High School: Guerrero graduated from Tucson High Magnet School in May of 2022. She played every minute of every game in high school and finished her senior season with a 5-5-1 record. 

Personal: Guerrero was born in Tucson, Arizona, on March 23, 2003. Her hobbies include playing sports, traveling, off-roading, working out, welding and hanging out with her friends. In the future, she plans to earn her bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering and retire from the military. 

Gaby Crook

High School: Crook finished up her homeschooling in May of 2020. She played for the Honduran U-15 National Team and also played varsity soccer for four years while being a captain as a junior and senior. She was also a member of the Utah Royals Development Academy Team. 

Personal: Crook was born in Tegucigalpa, Honduras, on October 17, 2001. Her hobbies include mountain biking, hiking and anything outdoors. In the future, she plans to earn her associate’s degree in business. 

Bethany Gittins

High School: Gittins finished up her homeschooling in May of 2022. 

Personal: Gittins was born in Prescott Valley, Arizona, on May 10, 2005. In the future, she plans to earn an associate’s of science degree. 

Brynn Preston

High School: Preston graduated from Chino Valley High School in May of 2022. As a senior, she helped lead her team to a state championship while earning honorable-mention honors. 

Personal: Preston was born in Prescott, Arizona, on January 21, 2004. She enjoys hiking and, in the future, plans to major in sports medicine and become an athletic trainer. 

Makenzie Stanton

High School: Stanton graduated from The Odyssey Institute in May of 2022. She was the captain of her varsity team during her junior and senior seasons and helped lead her senior team to a 9-3-1 record. During that season, she earned First-Team All-Region and Golden Ball honors while finishing seventh in the state with 12.5 saves per goal and 137 total saves. 

Personal: Stanton was born in Riverside, California, on March 25, 2004. Her hobbies include cooking and camping and, in the future, she plans to study nursing. 

Angelina De Leon

High School: De Leon graduated from Salpointe Catholic High School in May of 2021. Her decorated high school career included 2021 Arizona Presidents Cup Runner-Up and 2021 Regional Presidents Cup Semi-Finalist honors for her club team. In addition, she won three state titles at Salpointe while all three championship teams were inducted into the school’s hall of fame.In 2019-20, she earned All-Tournament Team and Honorable-Mention honors.  Academically, she earned a 3.83 GPA while being a member of the National Honors Society. She received AIA Scholar Athlete honors during all four years of high school (3.5 GPA or higher while on varsity). 

Before Yavapai: De Leon previously attended Willamette University. 

Personal: De Leon was born in Naples, Italy, on July 8, 2003. Her hobbies include hiking, baking, lifting and listening to music. In the future, she plans to major in exercise science or psychology. 

Morgan Trail

High School: Trail graduated from Highland High School in May of 2022 where she earned Most Coachable Female, 3X Overachiever and State Cup Champion honors. 

Personal: Trail was born in Edgewood, Kentucky, on June 15, 2004. Her hobbies include hiking and listening to music. In the future, she plans to study exercise science. 

Marissa Pond

High School: Pond graduated from Basha High School in May of 2022 where she played three years of varsity soccer. 

Personal: Pond was born in Mesa, Arizona, on September 9, 2003. Her hobbies include shooting, camping, art, soccer, hiking and hanging out with her friends and family. In the future, she plans to earn an associate’s and bachelor’s degree. 

Miranda Pena

High School: Pena graduated from La Joya Community High School in May of 2022. As a senior, she led her team in goals. Academically, she also participated in JAG (Jobs for Arizona’s Graduates). 

Personal: Pena was born in Phoenix, Arizona, on July 17, 2004. One of her hobbies is painting and, in the future, she plans to major in health sciences. 

Mia Figueroa

High School: Figueroa graduated from Millennium High School in May of 2022. She played varsity soccer during all four years and lettered academically in all four of her high school years as well. As a freshman and sophomore, she earned All-Region Honorable-Mention honors. As a junior, she earned Second-Team All-Region honors while earning First-Team All-Region honors as a senior. 

Personal: Figueroa was born in Litchfield Park, Arizona, on December 18, 2003. 

Ellie Silva

High School: Silva graduated from Valley Vista High School in May of 2022. As a senior, she earned First-Team All-District honors and earned Second-Team All-District honors as a junior. She also helped lead her club team (RSL) to a 16-0 record en route to a Desert Super Cup Championship. 

Personal: Silva was born in Glendale, Arizona, on May 12, 2004. Her hobbies include going to the gym, shopping and hanging out with friends. 

Julie Reyes

High School: Reyes graduated from Millennium High School in May of 2022. As a senior, she tallied 12 goals and nine assists en route to First-Team All-Region and Second-Team All-West Valley honors. 

Personal: Reyes was born in Yuma, Arizona, on December 30, 2003. In the future, she plans to study business administration.
