Volleyball Splits Home Contests Between Verde Valley

Volleyball Splits Home Contests Between Verde Valley And Prescott This Week

The six-game homestand continues this week for the Yavapai College volleyball team, however, the Roughriders will head to the Verde Valley this week for one of their games, giving fans over the mountain a chance to catch the Roughriders in action in person.

The Games

Volleyball starts on Wednesday, October 19, at 7 p.m. in Cottonwood, Arizona, at Mingus Union High School where YC will take on the No. 13-ranked Glendale Community College Gauchos. 

After an off day, YC is back in action on Friday, October 21, at 7 p.m. in Prescott, Arizona, inside of Walraven Gymnasium where the Roughriders will take on the Eastern Arizona College Gila Monsters. 

Both games will be streamed on Wednesday’s game in Cottonwood will also feature free admission. 

The Gauchos

Ranked No. 13 in NJCAA DII, Glendale comes into its match with YC at 8-7 overall and 7-4 within the conference. Last week, the Gauchos swept Mesa and Phoenix as they have won four of their last five games. 

The Gila Monsters

A familiar foe for the Roughriders, Eastern Arizona comes into its third matchup of the season with YC at 18-8 overall and 6-3 within the conference. Last week, the Gila Monsters defeated YC in their first trip to Prescott and Pima at home.

YC comes into its week of volleyball at 4-13 overall and 2-7 within the conference. This week, the Roughriders will be looking to put an end to their six-game skid that has featured a couple of narrow losses to the Gila Monsters.
