    The Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office Bids Farewell to One of Their Own

    On November 2, 2020, sadly the Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office lost one of their own.  Michael D. Winkels was currently serving as a deputy with the Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office and was a 13.5-year veteran of the agency at the time of his passing.  Mike had a total of 42 combined service as a Law Enforcement Professional. The YCSO family is mourning his loss.  

    Sheriff Scott Mascher added, “A 42-year veteran of law enforcement lost his fight with cancer. This is a great loss to our community and our agency. Mike will be sorely missed.  My sincerest condolences to Mike’s family.”    

    There will be a memorial service for Mike at the Prescott Valley Civic Center on November 12th, at 9:00 AM followed by a procession along Lakeshore Drive.  The best place for the public to view the procession is along Lakeshore Drive between the Civic Center and Robert road or from Mountain Valley Park along Lakeshore Drive.
