The Highlands Center Amphitheater, 1375 S Walker Rd, Prescott
On Saturday, October 1st, some of the Folk Sessions favorite musicians, including Ramsey Roberson (Eric Ramsey and Robby Roberson) come together in the Highlands Center Amphitheater for the Angels Band Festival to celebrate the songs and music of “those that came before” and continue to inspire, and whose songs we continue to sing. A very special “Hearts of Texas” set, featuring songs from some of the great Texan Songwriters will close the festival. Tickets are $22 and available at https://fslangelsbandfest10-1.eventbrite.com
According to Tom Agostino, host of the Folk Sessions, “Upon learning the annual Sharlot Hall Folk Fest was not being held this year, we decided to get together with some of our Folk Session friends, including Ramsey Roberson (Eric Ramsey and Robby Roberson), Dennis “Doc” Garvey & Paul Spradlin, Meg Bohrman and Jen Harvey & Joell Gall from the Gurley Girls and ‘put on a show’. We also realized that a lot of the songs we’ve been playing were written or performed by incredible musicians who have left us, but whose music continues to be remembered, sung and shared when musicians and audiences get together. The Angel’s Band. Be prepared to sing.”
Some of the artists who are in the “Angels Band” include Woody Guthrie, John Prine, Tom Petty, Patsy Cline, Kate Wolff, Louie Armstrong and Johnny Cash. A special “Hearts of Texas” set will honor our Texan Angels, including Jerry Jeff Walker, Townes Van Zandt, Janice Joplin, Buddy Holly, Nanci Griffith, Guy Clark and Blaze Foley.
The Folk Sessions may well be one of the most eclectic music companies in America. Having broadcast and promoted throughout Central & Northern Arizona for 19 years on the KJAZZ Radio Network and Prescott Public Radio, part of the Arizona Community Radio Network, the Folk Sessions has established a loyal following, producing quality radio programs and live concerts.
