By Gloria Grose,
Team Up to Clean Up is celebrating its 25th anniversary!! The first Team Up to Clean Up was held in 1996 and it received statewide recognition through the Arizona Clean and Beautiful organization in 1997. The prestigious award was presented to our community for the “Team Up to Clean Up” program which resulted in an unbelievable removal of 700 tons of trash, litter, debris, and rubbish from the town limits.
On Saturday, May 1 the Prescott Valley will continue this annual event and will be celebrating the 25th year of teaming up with the Town of Prescott Valley for its annual Dump Day.
Everyone is invited to meet at the Chamber Clean-up command post located at 7120 E. Pav Way at 9 a.m. to pick up trash bags and tee shirts. Coffee provided by Dutch Bros, donuts, maps, and t-shirts will be handed out and areas will be provided to pick up trash. Adding to the fun are group awards and a scavenger hunt.
At 11:30 p.m. lunch will be provided for all working volunteers and will consist of hot dogs, (cooked by the crew at Central Arizona Fire and Medical Authority) chips, soft drinks and cookies compliments of Safeway, Fry’s Food and Drug, and Pepsi. There will be a live remote with KVRD 105.7FM, pizza from Papa John’s, and awards for the most participants, team spirit and the scavenger hunt winners.
Marnie Uhl, President/CEO of the Prescott Valley Chamber of Commerce says “It’s time to “Spring Clean” and we are out to beat last year’s removal of trash! Through our continuing efforts and awareness campaigns, we fully intend to make Prescott Valley the cleanest community in Arizona.”
Come on out and join the fun “Team Up to Clean Up and Recycle 25.” See you on Saturday, May 1st.
