Softball Concludes Regular Season in Thatcher
The Yavapai College softball team is set to conclude its remarkable regular season Tuesday, May 3, in Thatcher, Arizona, in an ACCAC doubleheader against the Eastern Arizona College Gila Monsters. First pitch of the doubleheader is set for 11 a.m. and live streaming and live stats will be available on GoRoughriders.com/Live.
The Gila Monsters
Eastern Arizona College comes into its matchup with YC at 42-8 overall and 34-6 in the conference. Last time out, the Gila Monsters swept Glendale to push their win streak to 16 games.
The Roughriders
After splitting with No. 8-ranked Central Arizona College to clinch the conference championship and hosting rights of the NJCAA Division I Region I Tournament, Yavapai comes into its regular-season finale at 48-3 overall and 40-2 in the conference.
In their previous matchup with the Gila Monsters at home on March 19, the Roughriders earned the sweep with scores of 9-1 and 11-3.
Player To Watch
Sophomore outfielder Kayla Rodgers leads the country in runs scored with 95 and has already broken the YC single-season runs scored record. If she crosses home plate five more times this season, she will be the first Roughrider to score 100 runs in a season.
One Last Thing
A sweep on Tuesday would give Head Coach Doug Eastman his third 50-win campaign at YC and his first since 2018.
