Roughrider Women’s Basketball Heads To Utah

After capturing its first two wins of the season at home, the Yavapai College women’s basketball team is headed out of Arizona once more with the squad set for a couple of games in Price, Utah, in the Eagle Classic that is being hosted by Utah State University Eastern.

The Games

For the Roughriders, their tournament begins on Friday, November 18, at 3 p.m. with a matchup against the Snow College Badgers. On Saturday, November 19, the Roughriders will take on the Utah State University Eagles with gametime set for 1 p.m.

Both games will be played inside of USUE’s Bunnell-Dmitrich Athletic Center in addition to both games being live streamed for purchase. Individual games will be available for $10 with those links able to be found on GoRoughriders.com/Live

The Badgers

Snow College comes into its matchup with YC at 2-3 overall with wins over Central Wyoming and Pima and losses to Casper, Cochise and Eastern Arizona. 

The Eagles

Utah State University Eastern comes into its matchup with YC at 3-2 overall with wins over Central Wyoming, Scottsdale and Phoenix and losses to Casper and Mesa. Before its matchup with YC, USUE will take on Laramie County on Friday. 

The Roughriders

After a couple of losses in Idaho, the Roughriders returned to Prescott for their first home games of the season and earned a pair of victories to move to 2-2 on the young season. 

Player To Watch

Freshman guard Keyla Cervantes is the lone Roughrider with 15-plus points in each game this season as she has scored 17, 16, 20 and 18, respectively, for a 17.8 PPG clip and 71 overall points on the season. 

One Last Thing

The next time the Roughriders are at home will be on Wednesday, November 30, at 7:30 p.m. for their first home conference game of the season against Eastern Arizona. In addition to the game, a basketball kickoff event featuring a coaches meet and greet will be held in building 19 of the Prescott campus. Come on out and celebrate the return of basketball to YC!
