Education for Pet Owners

The Prescott Valley Police Animal Control Unit educates dog owners about leashing, licensing, and vaccinating their dogs against rabies in compliance with Prescott Valley Town Ordinance Chapter Six. Town Code requires all dogs be restrained by a leash not exceeding six feet in length when the dog is not on the owner’s property. This also applies to retractable leashes that may extend more than six feet. The only exception to this rule is when the dogs are at the local dog park in the fenced area. In addition, the Town requires that all dogs be vaccinated against rabies and licensed.

Due to recent residents’ complaints of dogs being off leash, Animal Control Officers will be working evening hours and issuing citations for all leash law violations. They appreciate dog owners who abide by the leash, licensing, and vaccinations requirements.
