Prescott Valley Police to Host Citizen’s Police Academy

Prescott Valley Police Department is accepting applications for its 2022 Citizen Police Academy. Applications will be accepted through Tuesday, August 16, and the Academy begins Tuesday, August 23. It will be held at  the Prescott Valley PD Training room, 7601 E. Skoog Blvd., from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM every Tuesday night through October 18, 2022. There is no charge for the Academy, and the public is encouraged to attend.  

The 9-week Academy is an in-depth look at the mission, philosophy, and operations of the Prescott Valley  Police Department, and the extensive training that our officers receive to better serve our residents. Some of  the classes presented include firearms training, special weapons and tactics, hostage negotiations, traffic and  DUI enforcement, gang task force, volunteers in policing, and much more.

Seating is limited to 30 attendees and applicants must pass a background check. For additional information  and an application, visit Applications from Prescott Valley  residents will be processed first through August 9. After that date, any remaining seats will be available to  residents from other jurisdictions. All applications must be notarized and returned to the police department  by mail, email, or dropped off. All participants will be notified of their acceptance into the class by August 16.  This class fills up quickly, so don’t miss the opportunity to attend this in-depth, behind the scenes look at  police operations.
