A 77-year-old Prescott Valley man was placed into custody Wednesday night for allegedly discharging his firearm multiple times inside his home.
Officers were called to a residence on North Taylor Drive in Prescott Valley at around 11:42 p.m. after the suspect’s roommate called police.
When officers arrived on the scene, gunshots could still be heard coming from the house. After several announcements were made over a public address system, the resident, a military veteran, exited the home and surrendered.
Authorities learned that the man was having hallucinations and yelling about “the enemy” being in the house.
The resident was transported to the Veteran’s Administration Hospital for treatment. Charges were submitted to the Yavapai County Attorney’s Office for review.
