A Prescott man was convicted of a slew of crimes earlier this week.
41-year-old Richard Brannan was found guilty of aggravated assault, criminal trespass, and resisting arrest by a Yavapai County jury Tuesday. Superior Court Judge Krista Carmen also found Brannan guilty of criminal damage.
Authorities say Brannan broke into a home in Prescott in November of 2018. The victim told Yavapai County Sheriff’s deputies that he recognized Brannan’s dog on his home surveillance system and believed someone had broken into his house.
When deputies arrived, they found garden tools on the ground and broken glass. Brannan was then located in a bedroom, where he rushed at one of the officers and attempted to gain possession of their gun. Brannan yelled at his dog to attack the deputies, but they subdued him and took him into custody.
Brannan faces 24 years in prison.
