    “Operation Blessing Prescott, AZ”

Six weeks ago, my husband and I launched Operation Blessing Prescott AZ, as we learned of the possible local and national economic fallout due to Covid-19 pandemic and crisis.

Since our Prescott community is 75% retired, we were extremely concerned about our homebound elderly citizens that would need help with food, supplies and delivery as they were high risk and most vulnerable.

We partnered with Findlay Toyota to conduct a nonperishable Food Drive, for much needed food items and toiletries. It was very successful, and we couldn’t believe the outpouring, as well as the huge need in our community. We received many phone calls and messages from the public requesting food boxes delivered including fire stations in neighboring towns that ran out of toiletries.

Based on the ‘Drive & Drop’ Food Drive at Findlay, we have delivered many food boxes to Prescott, Prescott Valley, Chino, Paulden, Yarnell, and as far away as Ashfork. We are being told the Food Banks are so low and the demand is great.

As we are delivering to doorsteps, we have heard many heartbreaking stories, including families with children who ran out of food and funds and have no gas to get school meals or to go shopping. With the help of friends and community volunteers being mobilized and us using our own vehicles and gasoline to help, we have helped many elderly, disabled, families with children all over Yavapai County.

In the meantime, we are hearing that things may get worse before they get better as citizens may now be facing delayed financial assistance and or late simultaneous checks.
