The Yavapai College baseball team’s season marches on this week with a pair of doubleheaders: one on Tuesday and one on Saturday.
Baseball begins at noon on Tuesday in Yuma, Arizona, where the Roughriders match up with the No. 13-ranked Arizona Western College Matadors. After a few off days, the Roughriders then host the South Mountain Community College Cougars on Saturday with first pitch set for noon as well.
Both doubleheaders will have live streaming and live stats available on GoRoughriders.com/Live.
Arizona Western comes into its matchup with Yavapai at 43-7 overall and 27-5 in the ACCAC. The conference-leading Matadors were swept by Central the last time they were on the diamond.
South Mountain comes into its matchup with Yavapai at 23-25 overall and 11-19 in the ACCAC. Before the Cougars head to Prescott on Saturday, they will play host Central with one game apiece on Tuesday and Wednesday.
Yavapai comes into its week of baseball in fourth place in the ACCAC standings while holding a 31-14-1 overall record and 19-11 conference record. Last week, the Roughriders swept Pima at home, before being swept by Cochise at home.
Players To Watch
Freshman utility man Ben Zeigler continues to lead the conference in batting average with a .420 mark while redshirt-sophomore outfielder Sean Rimmer owns the most homers in the conference with 13.
One Last Thing
Tuesday’s doubleheader in Yuma serves as the last road trip for the Roughriders in the regular season as they finish their season with a six-game homestand.
