No. 1 YC Softball Set For Saturday Matchup With Scottsdale
The No. 1-ranked Yavapai College softball team is back in action this weekend with a doubleheader against the Scottsdale Community College Fighting Artichokes on Saturday, April 23.
First pitch of the doubleheader is slated for noon. Both games will have live streaming and live stats available on GoRoughriders.com/Live.
The Fighting Artichokes
Scottsdale comes into its matchup with YC at 7-29 overall and 5-29 in the conference. Last time out, Scottsdale was swept by Eastern Arizona at home.

The Roughriders
Fans are simply running out of superlatives to describe the 2022 Roughrider softball team. Last time out, Yavapai swept No. 2-ranked Phoenix to push its win streak to 21 games and move to No. 1 in the NJCAA rankings. Overall, the Roughriders are 41-2 while boasting a 33-1 conference record. In addition, Yavapai holds a perfect 16-0 record at home.
Statistically, the Roughriders continue to lead the country in runs scored, hits doubles, home runs, RBIs, XBHs, total bases, walks, batting average, OBP% and SLG%.
Player To Watch
Every Roughrider that takes the field nowadays is a player to watch, however, it would be remiss to not mention that freshman shortstop Lovey Kepa’a leads the nation in homers (25) and RBIs (84).
One Last Thing
The NJCAA Region 1 Tournament is scheduled for May 13-14 and the Roughriders are currently on the fast track to hosting the tournament.
