Former Executive Director of Prescott Downtown Partnership Arrested

    Former Executive Director of Prescott Downtown Partnership Arrested on Charges of Fraud Totaling over $200,000 in Loss

    On November 17, 2021, Prescott Police Detectives arrested and booked the former Executive Director of the Prescott Downtown Partnership, Misti Smith.

    The arrest comes after a lengthy investigation that started in October 2021 when the Prescott Downtown Partnership reported being the victim of fraudulent activity after the abrupt resignation of Smith. Through the course of the investigation, detectives found numerous instances of fraud, forgery, and theft that had taken place since the start of Smith’s employment with the Prescott Downtown Partnership in April of 2020. The value of the fraudulent activity has totaled over $200,000 in loss.

    Smith, a 43-year-old Prescott Valley resident, has been booked into the Yavapai County Jail on multiple charges to include Fraudulent Schemes, Forgery, Theft, and Taking the Identity of Another.

    1. No surprises here this has gone on for a while in Prescott.I want to know who hires these people, no background checks and balances? again the taxpayer pays. Know does the city of Prescott act on credible collection of information on current situations that need to be looked at….NO!
