Langston, Parlanti Sweep Weekly ACCAC Awards For Yavapai Volleyball

After helping lead the Yavapai College volleyball team to a pair of wins over its region foes last week, sophomore middle blocker Paiten Langston was named ACCAC Defensive Player of the Week while freshman outside hitter Sophia Parlanti took home ACCAC Offensive Player of the Week honors.

The Roughriders swept Eastern Arizona on the road last Wednesday before defeating Arizona Western in four sets at home last Friday.

Langston dominated at the net in both matches and tallied 13 blocks, 12 kills, and two digs. She continues to lead the conference individually in blocks and blocks-per-set while the Roughriders as a team lead the conference in both categories.

Parlanti smashed the volleyball past defenders all week and finished the week with 25 kills, 18 digs, two blocks, and an ace.

The duo becomes the fifth and sixth Roughriders to take home ACCAC Player of the Week honors, joining freshman outside hitter Kierslynn Wright (twice), sophomore libero Brooklyn Holland and sophomore right hitter Samantha Holman.

The Roughriders are back in action Wednesday at 7 p.m. in Yuma, Arizona, where they will take on the Arizona Western College Matadors in the NJCAA Division I Region I Championship match.
