Did you know that Prescott Valley’s K9 unit has a small budget, and is largely supported by grants and community donations? The Prescott Valley Police K9 Unit has three dogs, Kato, Chewy, and Groot, that do an awesome job keeping dangerous drugs off the streets and keeping their officers safe. This year, the department can earn a $5,000 grant from Aftermath, a biohazard removal company, to support the K9 unit. A total of $25,000 in grants will be awarded to the top ten agencies with the most eligible votes for use towards the maintenance of an existing K9 unit and/or the creation of a new unit. The department with the most votes from each tier will be awarded $5,000 grants.
This year, the PVPD is highlighting K9 Kato in hopes of winning the Aftermath K9 Grant of $5,000 and they need your help! They will take a dive into the “Secret Life of Kato” and each day they will share fun facts about Kato on their social media pages to remind everyone to head to www.aftermath.com/k9-grant and vote. You can vote once a day, and they encourage you to tell your friends and family to do the same!
Voting will open on October 19, so be prepared! They encourage everyone to follow the Prescott Valley Police Department on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter for reminders and updates!
