    ANNOUNCING WANT TO RUN FOR PRESCOTT VALLEY TOWN COUNCIL?

    The Town of Prescott Valley announces the availability of candidate packets for the 2022 election.

    Prescott Valley, Ariz.The Town of Prescott Valley announces the availability of candidate packets for the 2022 election cycle starting Tuesday, September 7, 2021. The Town will hold a Primary Election on Tuesday, August 2, 2022, for the purpose of electing one Mayor and two Council Members to fill four-year terms. A General Election will be held on Tuesday, November 8, 2022, to fill any elected offices that remain unfilled after the Primary Election and for any other ballot questions that may be presented. Interested candidates can find more information on running for local office, compliance requirements, and election filings on the Town’s website at www.pvaz.net under Election Information. Anyone interested in picking up a candidate nomination packet should schedule an appointment with the Town Clerk’s Office at (928)759-3028 to receive a copy. The Clerk’s office will hold an open house on Tuesday, September 7 from 4-6 PM in the Council Chambers, located in the Prescott Valley Public Library at 7401 E Skoog Blvd., to go over the candidate packet and answer any questions. Detailed candidate, finance, and other voter information are available online at http://pvaz.net/384/Election-Information/.

    REQUIREMENTS 

    A candidate for local office must be a qualified elector at the time of filing their nomination paper. Any such candidate, in addition to the other requirements, must be 18 years of age or over. Candidates for local office must also have resided in the town for 1 year preceding the election. This 1-year residency requirement also permits persons living in an area that is annexed to a city or town less than 1 year prior to the election to qualify as a candidate if they meet all other requirements for candidates. Cannot hold any other public office that in any way conflicts with the office of the Mayor or Council Member. 

    Concerning the question of candidate qualifications, it should be noted that a person convicted of a felony cannot serve as a council member until he/she has restored their civil rights.

    ABOUT THIS ELECTION 

    The Town of Prescott Valley holds consolidated elections in the fall of even years. The next regularly scheduled election will be August 2, 2022 for the purpose of electing one (1) Mayor, and two (2) Council Members to fill four-years terms. A General Election will be held on Tuesday, November 8, 2022, to fill any elected offices that remain unfilled (if any) after the Primary Election and for any ballot measure proposition referred by the Town Council. The Clerk’s office will hold an open house on Tuesday, September 7 in the Council Chambers to go over the candidate packet and answer any questions.
