    DUI Crash and Arrest

    On Saturday, July 31, 2021, Prescott Valley officers were patrolling the City of Prescott while Prescott officers attended their annual awards banquet. At approximately 8:10 PM, Prescott Valley Officers responded to a possible DUI hit & run crash around Willow Creek Road and Gail Gardner in Prescott.Officers located the suspect driving an older model Chevrolet pickup truck and stopped it northbound on Willow Creek Roadat Pulliam Drive. Officers attempted to keep the suspect from fleeing again by positioning patrol cars in front and behind his truck.  As officers exited their patrol cars, the suspect accelerated into one of the patrol vehicles on the passenger side injuring an officer and causing extensive damage to his patrol car.  

     

    The suspect continued to accelerate into the patrol car until officers extracted him from his vehicle and placed him into custody. Prescott Police responded and took over investigation of the incident.  The driver was subsequently charged with numerous felony charges including Aggravated Assault on a Law Enforcement Officer, Endangerment, Resisting Arrest, Prohibited Possessor, Criminal Damage and DUI. 

     

    The patrol officer’s injuries were relatively minor, and he has since returned to work.  

     

    Arrested:                    James Pike, age 59 of Chino Valley, Arizona  

     

    *The person(s) involved has not yet been convicted of a crime and is/are presumed innocent. The presumption of innocence shall continue until such time that the person(s) accused may be found guilty by a court of law.
