Unlicensed Contractors and the Monsoon Season

On Wednesday, July 14, 2021, at 11:45 AM, Prescott Valley Police was notified of a possible roofing scam in our area.  A wary resident received a call from a person claiming to be with a local roofing company. He talked over the resident and then made his own appointment to come to the resident’s home to inspect their roof for damage.  The resident tried to call the phone number back, but it was disconnected. The resident then called Prescott Valley Police to report the suspicious call.

    Scam Alert Prescott

Prescott Valley Police conducted additional follow-up with the Arizona Registrar of Contractors, and the Registrars were unable to verify the existence of the business. The Arizona Registrar of Contractors recommends residents obtain the contractor’s license number to verify if they are actually registered and in good standing.

Since the monsoons have arrived, there has been heavy rain, high winds, and hail.  If you have damage or just want to renovate an area of your home or business, check with the Arizona Registrar of Contracts at (602) 542-1525 or their website at https://roc.az.gov/

Prescott Valley Police Department can be contacted at (928) 772-9267 for non-emergencies, 911 for emergencies.   Yavapai County Silent witness is 1-800-932-3232.
