$150 million fentanyl bust in Yavapai County

The Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office announced Friday that a traffic stop of a truck weaving in and out of freeway traffic led to the seizure of enough fentanyl powder to produce up to 10 million pills.

Authorities say the seizure occurred Wednesday on Interstate 17 near Cordes Junction, where a truck was driving erratically.

A K9 then discovered 22 pounds of the drug inside the vehicle. After the discovery, the driver, 21-year-old Daniel Antonio Guzman-Perez, was apprehended.

Officials say the value of the fentanyl is around $150 million.

Guzman-Perez remains in custody at the Yavapai County Jail in Camp Verde.
