Arizona man arrested after killing, cooking roommate’s pet bunny

A man is facing animal cruelty charges after admitting to slaughtering his roommate’s pet rabbit while they were in the process of moving out.

Police told The Prescott Times that Antonio O’Connor was arrested Friday.

Authorities say the roommate returned to the residence to retrieve his pet and other belongings when he found the rabbit’s carcass on the kitchen counter and O’Connor holding a kitchen knife.

O’Connor later admitted that he killed, skinned, and cooked the rabbit, which was named Pickles, and intended to eat the animal.

O’Connor was taken to Tempe City Jail, where he was booked on a charge of animal cruelty resulting in death, a class 5 felony.
