After a three-day extensive search, we are saddened to report that Mr. Barry was found deceased Wednesday afternoon. YCSO Forest patrol deputies found his remains just east of Forest Road 24. We would like to thank all of our deputies, K9s, and Search and Rescue volunteers who searched the area for Mr. Barry. At this time, we just ask everyone to keep their family in their thoughts and prayers.
YCSO is asking the public’s help to locate 69-year-old Mark Barry of Cave Creek. Deputies have been searching for Mr. Barry since Monday, March 17th, after receiving a report about an abandoned blue Honda CRV on Forest Road 24 at the southern end of Yavapai County, near Cave Creek Road.
Mr. Barry’s vehicle appeared to have become disabled on the dirt road after experiencing a punctured oil pan. Attempts to locate and make contact with him were unsuccessful. Deputies were able to reach family members, but they have not been in contact with Mr. Barry for several days. Deputies searched the surrounding area where his vehicle was found and couldn’t find him.
YCSO K9 and Search and rescue teams did an extensive canvas of the area on Tuesday, but unfortunately were unable to locate him. As part of this ongoing investigation, deputies were able to locate witnesses that saw Mr. Barry driving his car on the forest road on May 11th but did not see him experiencing any mechanical issues. Currently, there is no information as to Mr. Barry’s whereabouts. Foul play is not suspected at this time.
Mark Barry is a 69-year-old white male with gray hair, blue eyes, 5 feet 10 inches tall, and weighs 180 pounds.
