THIS IS A FOLLOW UP TO A RELEASE SENT OUT DECEMBER 10, 2020, WHICH IS PRINTED BELOW.
A 15-year-old has been arrested for multiple vehicle burglaries in the Quailwood area in which several guns were stolen. In most of the incidents, the vehicles were unlocked. According to neighborhood surveillance videos, subjects were observed walking through neighborhoods during early hours of the morning checking for unlocked vehicle doors. If the doors were unlocked, the subjects would ransack the cars and remove items they wanted. Thus far, three stolen firearms have been recovered.
The Prescott Valley Police Department encourages all neighbors to remove valuable items from their vehicles, lock them and report any suspicious activity.
DATE: December 10, 2020 – UNLOCKED VEHICLE RESULTS IN STOLEN GUN
During the early morning hours of Wednesday, December 9, 2020, in the 12000-13000 blocks of Tijuana Street in the Quailwood area of Prescott Valley, two unlocked vehicles were entered. Among things stolen was a 9MM semi-automatic pistol and a loaded magazine. The gun has a black frame with a brown slide.
The police department is asking residents in the area to check their video surveillance equipment for the hours of midnight to 3:00AM on December 9th. If you see anything suspicious, contact the police department at 928-772-9267.
During the holiday season, it is especially critical to keep your vehicles locked. It is also wise to remove things of value from your vehicles. An unlocked vehicle may also yield a garage door opener which could allow a person to enter your home.
Neighborhood safety is everyone’s responsibility. If you see something you think is suspicious, notify law enforcement. We would rather respond to something innocent than take a crime report later.
Prescott Valley Police Department can be contacted at (928) 772-9267 for non-emergencies, 911 for emergencies. Yavapai County Silent witness is 1-800-932-3232.
