    DUI ARREST TURNS INTO FELONY OFFICER ASSAULT

    On October 11, 2020 at 9:34 PM, Prescott Valley police officers were notified of an accident in the area of the Dewey Post Office, 12420 E. Kachina Place in Dewey. Witnesses called to report a collision between two vehicles near the Post Office and stated one person was intoxicated.

    Upon arrival, officers encountered a vehicle that was off the roadway at Graham Way and Kachina Place. Officers contacted the driver who appeared to be impaired. The driver became belligerent and attempted to restart his vehicle to leave. The  uncooperative driver was placed into custody and seated in the rear of the patrol vehicle.  On scene the driver attempted to assault the arresting officer and during the subsequent impaired driver investigation at the Prescott Valley Police Station, where the driver caused a minor injury. The suspect was later transported to Yavapai County Jail where he was charged with multiple violations. 

    Prescott Valley Police Department extends thanks to those who take the time to report suspected DUI drivers. You are our eyes and ears of the community.  Without this report, the driver might have left the scene and been a continued threat to the community. As always, if you See Something, Say Something!

    Charges: Aggravated Assault on Law Enforcement Officer (F6), Resisting Arrest (F6), Driving under the Influence(M1), DUI Aggravated with Driver License Restriction (F4).
