At about 12:20 PM today, YCSO received a call from employees at the Chase Bank in the 6600 block of Highway 179 at Verde Valley School Road, regarding a man causing a disturbance inside the bank. The man claimed he had a bomb in his van which was parked just outside the bank building. Employees and customers were able to eventually evacuate. The man broke out a window and was otherwise exhibiting strange behavior.
Deputies arrived and he was eventually subdued and taken into custody inside the bank.
The man’s vehicle, an orange colored van, remains parked outside the bank and the surrounding area has been evacuated as a result. The DPS Bomb Detail is enroute and will ascertain if a bomb is present.
Currently, roads around the bank are open, BUT this will likely change once DPS bomb techs arrive.
The YCSO armored vehicle is driving to the scene in case further personnel protection becomes necessary.
