On September 23, 2020 around 11:45 AM, deputies were dispatched to a motorcycle vs. truck collision in the area of Antelope Road and Thunderbird Trail, Cordes Lakes. The caller indicated a motorcycle rider lost control and collided head on with a truck.
The driver of the involved trash truck stated he was west on Antelope Road and saw a motorcycle moving in a south/easterly direction towards him. The rider appeared to lose control and collided with the front of his truck. Another witness confirmed the statement indicating the rider went left of center, or the wrong way on Antelope Road, before colliding with the truck.
The rider was treated at the scene and transported to a local hospital where he passed away as a result of the injuries.
The rider was not wearing a helmet. He is identified as 34-year-old Troy Redmond of Cordes Lakes. His family has been notified.
The YCSO Collision Investigation Team was called out to gather evidence and handle the investigation. Preliminary findings indicate speed and failure to control vehicle are factors. An autopsy is pending.
