Lewis Finished Second in Season-Opening Tournament
The Embry-Riddle men’s golf team got its season started during Monday and Tuesday of this week, as they look toward another Cal Pac Championship, and its first-ever national championship. It was a good performance for the Eagles, who played against some of the best NCAA Division II and NAIA golfers on the West Coast.
Trevor Lewis, coming off his NAIA First Team All-American selection last year, finished second after the 72 holes over two days. Lewis shot at par or below in each round, and was four-under par in the second round on Monday.
Lewis had 15 birdies throughout the entire tournament, the second-most in the tournament. Lewis also had an Eagle, picking it up at the 15th hole in the second round.
Tyler Macpherson finished tied for 25th after a good opening 72 holes of the season. Macpherson had a great first round, shooting a 70 (Even), and finished the tournament with seven birdies.
Jordan Garypie finished tied for 38th, and had a solid final two rounds. Garypie was three-over in the final 36 holes, and had five birdies in the stretch.
Joseph Allen placed tied for 42nd, and also had a great final two rounds, going four-over par. Alex Lasalarie and Alex Kam (individual) finished tied for 48th, posting a score of 222 (+12) in the three rounds.
The Eagles will have a couple of weeks off before getting back on its home course. The next event is the Embry-Riddle Fall Invitational, with the first two rounds from the Antelope Hills Golf Course in Prescott are scheduled for Sunday, October 9th.
