Town of Prescott Valley asks residents to safely dispose of prescription medications
The Town of Prescott Valley, Prescott Valley Police Department and Town Utilities Department ask all residents to safely dispose of unused or expired prescription drugs. Proper disposal will keep prescription drugs out of the hands of those who should not have access to them, and not flushing these drugs will help to protect the community’s water supply.
The Prescott Valley Police Department has a safe disposal box in its lobby. The lobby is open Monday – Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. The Department will not accept needles or containers. Records personnel will supply plastic bags for residents to place the drugs and drop them into the disposal box.
If you are unable to dispose of drugs at the Police Department, the Environmental Protection Agency suggests mixing medicines with an unpalatable substance, such as dirt, cat litter or used coffee grounds. Place the mixture in a container, such as a sealed plastic bag, and throw the container in your household trash.
