The Games

The Roughriders’ first matchup of the week takes place on Tuesday, October 11, at 5 p.m. in Glendale, Arizona, where they will take on the Glendale Community College Gauchos. After a few off days, the Roughriders return home to Ken Lindley Field where they will take on the No. 3-ranked Phoenix College Bears on Saturday, October 15, in YC’s home finale. That match is slated to begin at 3:30 p.m.

Saturday’s match will be streamed on GoRoughriders.com/Live. If Tuesday’s match is streamed, the link will be there as well.

The Gauchos

Glendale comes into its matchup with YC at 6-5-1 overall and 4-2-1 in conference play. The Gauchos have defeated South Mountain twice, Scottsdale, Chandler-Gilbert, Paradise Valley and GateWay and have lost to Pima twice, Paradise Valley, Mesa and Arizona Western. The Gauchos lone tie came against Mesa with a 2-2 final score.

The Bears

Ranked No. 3 in NJCAA DII, Phoenix comes into its matchup with YC at 9-1-1 overall and 5-1-1 in conference play. Its lone loss came to Arizona Western with a 3-2 final score while the Bears’ lone tie came to Pima with a 2-2 final score. Before heading to Prescott on Saturday, the Bears will host Scottsdale on Tuesday.

The Roughriders

YC comes into its week of soccer with a 7-2-1 overall record and 5-1-1 conference record that ties it for third in the ACCAC standings with Phoenix. Last week, the Roughriders defeated the No. 7-ranked Arizona Western College Matadors 2-1 at home and tied the No. 5-ranked Pima Community College Aztecs 1-1 on the road.

Player To Watch

Sophomore defender Alejandro Cardona had zero goals at this time last week and now has arguably the two most important goals of the season as he netted both scores in YC’s win over the Matadors last week.

One Last Thing

In the all-time series with Glendale, YC is 65-3-3 and in the all-time series with Phoenix, YC is 53-13-5.
