Griego, Dix Earn ACCAC Player of the Week Honors
For the seventh time this season, the No. 2-ranked Yavapai College softball team has swept the ACCAC weekly awards the conference office announced Monday night.
This time, freshman outfielder Sierra Griego took home Player of the Week honors while sophomore pitcher Emily Dix took home Pitcher of the Week honors after the duo helped lead the Roughriders to a sweep of the No. 12-ranked Eastern Arizona College Gila Monsters last week.
Griego is a first-time honoree while Dix is collecting her eighth weekly award of the season. Overall, Yavapai softball has now earned 18 ACCAC Pitcher/Player of the Week honors in 2022.

In the Roughriders sweep of Eastern Arizona, Griego tore the cover off the ball all day long as she went 6-for-6 with three doubles, a homer, five RBIs and four runs scored.
Overall, Griego is hitting .471 this season with 47 runs scored, 57 hits, 20 doubles, six homers and 29 RBIs.
Dix wound up pitching in both games against Eastern Arizona and totaled nine innings with no earned runs, 15 strikeouts and just five hits allowed.
Overall, Dix is 24-1 with a 1.56 ERA and 236 strikeouts in 134.2 innings pitched. In the country, she ranks third in wins, fourth in total strikeouts and third in strikeouts-per-seven innings.
Griego, Dix and the rest of the Roughriders are back in action on May 13-14 at home where they will host the NJCAA Division I Region I Tournament. Yavapai’s first game is slated for 11 a.m. against the Pima Community College Aztecs.
