Five Prescott Valley Police command staff members complete trilogy of leadership courses

Five Prescott Valley Police Department command leaders have completed three extensive leadership courses, earning them a Trilogy award from the FBI-LEEDA Law Enforcement Executive Development Association. Lt. Mike Corcoran, Sgt. Tom Grant, Lt. Jason Kaufman, Sgt. Nancy Roberts, and Lt. Scott Stebbins completed three 4 ½ day intensive and interactive leadership courses taught by executive level law enforcement professionals from throughout the United States. Prescott Valley PD hosted the courses, which were attended by law enforcement leaders from throughout the United States.

The courses discuss new challenges facing law enforcement and how they affect agencies in different areas of the country. Students were engaged in such topics as credibility, command discipline and liability, personnel issues, and leading change within an organization, with the goal of enhancing their leadership competencies.

“The courses were highly interactive, and challenged us to grow as leaders,” said Sgt. Roberts. “We were joined by supervisors from some of our neighboring agencies as well, which led to furthering those already strong working relationships. It is important to see perspectives from other vantage points, which will help in the  growth of our own capabilities, and in turn those of the agency.”

Two more PVPD command staff members are slated to complete the three courses soon.
