Freshman pitcher Emily Darwin of the No. 2-ranked Yavapai College softball team has been named the ACCAC Pitcher of the Week the conference office announced late Monday night.
Darwin earns the accolades for the second time this season after helping lead the Roughriders to a sweep of Chandler-Gilbert last week. Overall, Yavapai has now earned 13 ACCAC Pitcher/Player of the Week honors so far in 2022.
In Darwin’s start against the Coyotes last week, she tossed five scoreless innings of one-hit ball while striking out eight hitters. Overall, Darwin holds a 1.46 ERA, 17-1 record and 89 strikeouts in 81.2 innings pitched this season.
Darwin and the rest of the Roughriders (who swept the South Mountain Community College Cougars earlier on Tuesday afternoon) are back in action on Saturday, April 16, at Bill Vallely Field in Prescott, Arizona, where they will take on the No. 2-ranked (NJCAA DII) Phoenix College Bears.
