PRESCOTT, ARIZ. – The Embry-Riddle baseball team stayed perfect against OUAZ on Tuesday, defeating the Spirit 4-3 in the first mid-week game in program history. Eagles pitching allowed just four hits, and ERAU came up with timely hits of its own to never trail after the top of the first inning.
At the plate, Travis Strickler had an excellent day, going 3-for-3 with a pair of triples. Strickler was giving Spirit pitching such difficulties that he was intentionally walked in his final pair of plate appearances.
Luke Jepsen and Roberto Garza-Nunez each had a pair of hits as well, with both players recording doubles. Both of Garza-Nunez’s hits were of the two-base variety, and he drove in a run in the first inning.
A different Embry-Riddle pitcher appeared every inning, as all nine arms combined to hold OUAZ to just four hits. The Eagles also struck out ten batters as a staff, and three different players had at least two. Tanner Moran recorded all three of his outs via the punchout, and Zach Bauer struck out the first batter of the ninth on the way to his second save of the season.
Embry-Riddle will hit the road for conference play, as they head to Simpson for a three game series. First pitch from Redding, Calif. on Friday is scheduled for 6 p.m.
