SATSUMA, ALA. – The Embry-Riddle men’s soccer team starts its season with a pair of tough tests, and kicked off its season with a matchup again Thomas on Friday night. The Eagles scored the game’s first goal, but did not hold on, ending in a 1-1 tie with the Night Hawks in its first game of the 2022 campaign.
Embry-Riddle did strike first, as Cameron Kovats scored his first career goal in the 57th minute. The Eagles enjoyed its lead for just 14 minutes, as the Night Hawks answered with a strike in the 71st minute.
Both teams had plenty of chances, as they combined for 22 shots and ten shots on target. Elias Ammon made five saves, as the sophomore had another good outing to start his second season.
Lucas Garcia took four shots, a tying a game high, and three total Eagles had two or more shots. Kovats took three, and Fulop fired a pair toward the goal.
The Eagles will have a chance for its first win on Saturday, taking on NAIA National Runner-Ups and preseason #2 University of Mobile. Kickoff from Satsuma High School in Satsuma, Ala. is scheduled for 5:30 AZ Time.
