The Embry-Riddle baseball team is officially in the race for the conference tournament, as the final 12 Cal Pac games are upon the Eagles. ERAU sits tied for third in the Cal Pac standings, and could jump into first place with series win over Antelope Valley this weekend.
This Weekend’s Games
Antelope Valley (23-9, 11-4 Cal Pac): The Pioneers had been receiving votes in the coaches’ poll all year long, but did not get any in the latest edition released earlier in the week after a series loss at Park-Gilbert. UAV has lost three of its last four games, but currently hold a two-game lead over Embry-Riddle for first place.
For the second consecutive week, the an Eagle has earned Cal Pac Pitcher of the Week. Mitchell Mussler earned the honors this time, striking out 12 and giving up just two hits in his second complete-game shutout of the season.
Mussler had a no-hitter going through 5.2 innings, before Providence Christian broke through. He also did not walk a batter in the appearance while picking up his Cal Pac leading sixth win, third complete game and second complete-game shutout.
Aiden Vestbie sits at the top of the Cal Pac in ERA, posing a 2.93 mark in his debut season. He has allowed two earned runs or less in four of his five conference starts, and has a 2.12 ERA in Cal Pac contests.
Luke Jepsen has hit safely in 14 of his last 15 games, and has at least one hit in all but two conference games. Jepsen’s .406 batting average is third in the Cal Pac, and his .485 batting average in Cal Pac contests is best in the conference.
Jepsen’s 40 RBI is also fifth-best in the conference, and has multi-RBI games in five of the last six. He has at least one RBI in all but three conference games, and his 26 during Cal Pac play is the second-most in the conference.
