Coyotes, Scottsdale Post Grad Up Next For Roughrider Baseball
The Yavapai College baseball team’s season marches on with four games this week: a road doubleheader on Tuesday and home doubleheader on Friday.
The Games
Baseball begins on Tuesday at noon in Gilbert, Arizona, where the Roughriders will take on the Chandler-Gilbert Community College Coyotes in an ACCAC doubleheader. After a couple of off days, Yavapai then hosts Scottsdale Post Grad on Friday in Prescott, Arizona, at Roughrider Park for a doubleheader that also begins at noon. Both doubleheaders will have live streaming and live stats available on GoRoughriders.com/Live.
The Coyotes
Chandler-Gilbert comes into its matchup with Yavapai at 18-23 overall and 9-15 in the ACCAC. Last time out, the Coyotes swept South Mountain.
Scottsdale Post Grad
Scottsdale Post Grad is a gap year baseball program for high school graduates who are unsigned and wish to get another year of competitive playing experience without using a year of eligibility.
The Roughriders
Winner of five-straight and 16-of-18, Yavapai comes into its week of baseball with a 26-11-1 overall record and 16-8 conference record. Last week, the Roughriders swept Glendale on the road and swept GateWay at home.
Player To Watch
With a pair of home runs against the Geckos last weekend, redshirt-sophomore outfielder Sean Rimmer became the first Roughrider this season to reach double-digit homers.
One Last Thing
Last season, Yavapai swept Chandler-Gilbert with scores of 11-5 and 15-7.
