Congratulations CVHS Class of 2022

On May 25th, Chino Valley High School held its graduation ceremony at Findlay Toyota Center.  The following is my speech to those attending telling them about the CVHS Class of 2022.

Good Evening, my name is John Scholl and I am the superintendent of Chino Valley Schools

What a great year. Thank you for celebrating with us tonight as we send these young men and women off on to what will no doubt be great adventures.

I want to start by congratulating the Chino Valley High School class of 2022, the 30th graduating class of CVHS.

In my address this evening, I wanted to take a few minutes to share a little bit about the class of 2022. It is important to know that this is an outstanding class.

There are 147 graduating seniors in the class of 2022.

During their tenure at CVHS, many of these seniors have competed with success at the local, state, and national levels in various academic and athletic competitions. Many of have been named to all-region and all state teams in their respective sports. We have students that have competed and honored at the state and national levels as part of FFA, FCCLA, Skills USA, and HOSA.

While at CVHS, 100 seniors, over 68%, have completed a career and technical education  program. These are two-to-four-year programs leading to an industry certification in areas such as aviation, pre-engineering, culinary arts, drafting, automotive, welding, biotechnology,  agriculture, electrical line worker, medical professions, computer network technology.

Twenty three of these 100 students completed two programs.

Of the students graduating almost three-quarters of them have completed at least one college  dual enrollment class meaning they took a college class and received high school credit as well.  Three students completed their first year of college English, 17 students completed their first  year of college math, and 33 students completed their first year of both math and English giving them a huge head start, both academically and financially as they go off to college.

Collectively, 108 students have earned almost 1,400 credit hours, saving almost $150,000 in tuition and fees.

Approximately three-quarters of the graduating class will be attending a college or university next year. This class earned over $2 million in scholarships and awards to help them pay for their postsecondary education.

I would be remiss if I were not to mention that there are a few graduates who are choosing to get their postsecondary education a different way, by serving our country in the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, or Coast Guard. Please stand if you will be joining the armed forces.

My final message to the 2022 graduating class is to be proud of where you come from, be proud  of being a Chino Valley Cougar, and congratulations on taking your first step on your path to success.

As you know, success begins with a Chino Valley High School diploma.  Thank you.
