USING THE CORRECT CAR SEAT OR BOOSTER SEAT CAN BE A LIFESAVER

To assist parents in childcare safety, the Prescott Valley Police Department is conducting five Car Seat Check opportunities in the next several weeks. All five Car Seat Checks will be at the parking lot in front of Papa Murphy’s, next to Kohl’s, on Glassford Hill Road in Prescott Valley. The time will be from 9:00AM to 3:00PM on the following dates: July 23, August 6, August 20, September 3, and September 17.

Buckling children in age-and size-appropriate car seats, booster seats, and seat belts reduces the risk of serious and fatal injuries. Car seat use reduces the risk for injury in a crash by 71–82% for children, when compared with seat belt use alone. Booster seat use reduces the risk for serious injury by 45% for children aged 4–8, when compared with seat belt use alone. For older children and adults, seat belt use reduces the risk for death and serious injury by about half.

This contribution to child safety is made possible through a grant from the Arizona Governor’s Office of Highway Safety. Make sure your child is always buckled in an age-and size-appropriate car seat or booster seat. For further information, contact Amy Stone at (928) 772-5162.
